On 22nd September, we came together for a special coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. With plenty of cakes, hot drinks, and conversation, the event gave us a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for an important cause whilst bringing people together. Supporting important causes is something we take great pride in, and events like this provide a simple but meaningful way for our team to make a difference. It was brilliant to see everyone getting involved, enjoying some delicious treats, and helping raise money to support people living with cancer across the UK.

About Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan has spent more than 100 years helping people living with cancer, providing information, guidance, and practical support. Cancer can affect far more than physical health, with relationships, finances, employment, and emotional wellbeing all potentially impacted, which is why Macmillan offers a wide range of services designed to support people through the many challenges that this disease can bring.

The charity supports healthcare professionals with training and resources, carries out research into cancer care, campaigns to influence policy, and works with employers to help them better support staff affected by cancer. With almost 3.5 million people currently living with cancer in the UK, this work is more important than ever. Supporting charities like Macmillan closely reflects our own values around community involvement and making positive contributions, which is why we were so pleased to take part yet again.

A Special Landmark: 35 Years of the Nationwide Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan's Coffee Morning has grown considerably since it went nationwide for the very first time in 1991. The original idea was simple: bring people together over coffee and ask guests to donate the cost of their drink to help fight cancer. After proving a success, the event returned the following year on a national scale and has continued to grow ever since.

This year marks 35 years since the first nationwide coffee morning, and in that time, more than 1.2 million have been hosted across the UK, raising around £300 million for Macmillan Cancer Support. Today, coffee mornings come in all shapes and sizes, including gatherings at homes, workplaces, schools, and community groups. Whatever the setting, they share the same purpose of bringing people together whilst raising vital funds to help Macmillan support those living with cancer.

Bringing People Together

Our coffee morning was a really positive occasion for everyone at Barons. As well as raising £134.56 for Macmillan Cancer Support, it gave us the opportunity to spend quality time together, enjoy plenty of coffee and cake, and further strengthen the connection of our team.

Building strong relationships has always been an important part of who we are, and events like this demonstrate just how valuable it can be to bring people together around a shared cause. The relaxed atmosphere made it a great opportunity to catch up, have conversations, and enjoy each other's company whilst supporting an important cause. Of course, no Macmillan Coffee Morning would be complete without plenty of cake! A fantastic selection of treats helped make the event particularly enjoyable, and we'd like to thank everyone who contributed, attended, or donated.
