Barons is very proud to have been selected to manufacture a large quantity of furniture and soft furnishings for care provider Buckland Care during their recent refurbishment of Mulberry House. Barons also put together colour schemes, helping to create the right ambiance for every area of the home.
Buckland Care is a family-owned business that was established in 1993 and now has a portfolio of 12 care homes located across the South of England and the Isle of Wight.
Buckland Care first acquired Mulberry House in 2017 and soon set about turning it into a comfortable and modern care home. This large property is located in the beautiful Devon town of Bovey Tracey, just on the edge of Dartmoor.
While Mulberry House had previously been used as a care home, it had become disused in recent years. The buildings subsequently required extensive refurbishment to make it as beautiful on the inside as its external surroundings – that’s where Barons came in!

For this project, Barons’ experts supplied a wide range of furniture for every area throughout the building. As well as manufacturing and delivering fabulous furniture for the property, they also assisted in choosing wood shades and fabrics and pulled together colour schemes to make the most of each room.

Delivering the Goods
The rural location of Mulberry House means it is only accessible down a winding lane and through a narrow stone gate, making it impossible for Barons’ regular delivery vehicles to reach the building.
Barons’ delivery teams overcame this potential problem efficiently by supplying a smaller vehicle, enabling them to transfer the furniture to the property bit-by-bit. Their ingenuity helped to keep our deliveries and the overall refurbishment work on track!
Barons stated it was a pleasure to work closely both Laura and Liana Birkett and the rest of Buckland Care’s team, ensuring this project was completed on time and to a high standard.
A Care Home Once More
The property has proved to be a great hit with residents since it was opened in June 2018. The Barons team is delighted to have been part of the refurbishment process and to have helped create an environment of which staff, residents and visitors can all be proud.
Mulberry House offers services including residential care, respite care and specialist dementia care. With additional day care options, residents at the property are certain to be cared for to the highest possible standard and in the best way to suit their needs.
