The Romo Group
Founded in 1902 by Robert Mould, the Romo Group is a family-run fifth-generation business. The group has six established brands, all of which have their own unique character and style: Romo, Black Edition, Kirby Design, Mark Alexander, Villa Nova, and Zinc Textile. Each brand has a separate in-house design studio that creates a diverse range of fabrics, wallcoverings, trimmings, and accessories to suit customers’ tastes and needs worldwide.
Romo is the founding brand of The Romo Group and is renowned for its assorted library of classic and contemporary designs and versatile plains, offering a diverse style and timeless elegance enriched with a sophisticated colour palette.
Romo provides distinctive British design and generations of experience, establishing its own in-house design studio in the 1980s. Romo has continued to grow and is now a market leader in designer fabrics and wallcoverings. Led by Design Director Emily Mould, the Romo studio is a continuous hub of activity and creativity. An Aladdin’s cave of sketches, paintings, fabric, and colour charts, the studio walls are a constant source of inspiration. At each launch, the designers research new ideas, finding inspiration in an array of influences, from travel and fashion to nature and the outdoors.
Fabrics Available
Romo collections are launched twice a year through their worldwide network of designers, retailers, distributors, and agents, giving their exclusive collections international brand recognition in over 70 countries.
Romo’s extensive collections include four specialist contract ranges:
- Elio is woven from 100% PET recycled plastic bottles. This unassuming plain linen-effect fabric is both mindful and usable, with no compromise on quality. It is remarkably soft and beautiful to handle. A practical and versatile plain fabric, it is a superb addition to the ROMO contract collection. With its outstanding environmental credentials, this incredibly durable and wonderfully adaptive recycled fabric is suitable for drapes and upholstery, washable, inherently fire retardant and Oeko-Tex certified.
- Katori presents a wonderfully colourful, decorative collection of tactile upholstery velvet, which is bold, graphic, and luxurious. Offering a catalogue of pattern, cut, and uncut épinglé velvets gives statement geometrics, contemporary chevrons, and a decorative stripe an indulgent quality whilst embracing exhilarating, lively colour. These practical, fire-retardant velvets are a visual statement of versatile design, balancing desirability with usability.
- Habaneras is a colourful collection of durable, fire retardant upholstery weaves and velvets that is a visual statement of design and contemporary colour. Inspired by intricate fretwork, interlocking shapes are combined with colourful chevrons, whilst cut and uncut velvets give striking geometrics an indulgent quality. A bold colour palette includes rich reds, deep teal, and warm copper, alongside sophisticated neutrals.
- Sesia is a sophisticated collection of Trevira CS wide-width drapery with alluring natural qualities, consisting of delicate sheers, intriguing textures, decorative effects, and three-dimensional detailing. Subtle metallic highlights add contemporary style and lustrous appeal to these lightweight weaves. With an irresistible, natural tactile quality and a versatile colour palette of elegantly soft shades, this collection exudes a luxurious feel.
