The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May 2023. Across the Coronation Weekend, there will be opportunities for people to come together in celebration of this historic occasion.
Day one (Saturday 6th May) is marked by two grand processions, the coronation and religious service. This will be followed by an all-star concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday 7th, with global stars and the Coronation Choir, all broadcast into our homes by the BBC. There will also be a ‘lighting up the nation’ event during the concert when landmarks across the UK will be lit up with projections, lasers, drone displays, and illuminations, with street parties and private celebrations encouraged around the country. The culmination of the coronation weekend is the Bank Holiday Monday when UK citizens will be encouraged to volunteer in their local areas, an event that’s being billed as ‘The Big Help Out’.
