On the 14th of November 2022, the British Contract Furnishing Association (BCFA) majorly rebranded, changing its name to Commercial Interiors UK (CIUK).

Alongside their name change came a brand-new logo with a more colourful design and of course, a sleek new website. Carolyn Mitchell, chairwoman of CIUK, commented that the new logo “took inspiration from Bauhaus inspired letter forms and monograms” and was designed with “adaptability, vibrancy, and timelessness” in mind. Completely removing the light blue accents they once used for a more modern design, CIUK’s new website certainly provides a fresh look.

The rebrand came into discussion after a review in 2020 for their 50th anniversary, even though they’d built up the BCFA to be a big name within the furniture industry, the association felt like a rebrand was what was best for their future.

Mitchell explained more about CIUK’s name change and how they came to their decision:

“Communication is a fundamental part of what we do, and our research found that ‘Commercial Interiors UK’ as a name had much greater resonance around the world than the BCFA acronym. In order to promote our members effectively, it was vital people understood who we represent.

We represent a creative industry, so for me it was important to have a brand that is visually engaging. I am incredibly excited to promote the advancement of UK’s creative talent, and feel we are better prepared to do this with our new branding.”

The CIUK team aren’t just improving their brand, they’re also doing their best to offer members greater support through knowledge and education hubs and planning even more forums to connect the community.

As a long-standing member of CIUK, Barons is delighted to continue to meet their standards and align ourselves with their goals. The CIUK has changed a lot of things in its rebranding but has kept the strict membership criteria the same, ensuring only the companies that ethically produce the best quality furniture are joining them. Upon becoming a member, each company must sign a code of practice, committing to constantly meeting the professionalism, service, and quality standards the CIUK have.

Not only are we extremely proud of the fantastic furniture that we produce, but we’re also thrilled to meet the stringent standards of ISO9001 and ISO14001 and of our continued membership of the newly named CIUK. Our accreditations are an acknowledgement of the experience and professional service we provide our valued customers. Take a closer look at our case studies to see just how we do this.
