As the saying goes, ‘it’s a win - win situation’ and this is definitely the case with our partnership with Emmaus. Emmaus provides housing for the homeless and everything they sell in their shops goes directly into the housing costs, support and training to help the formerly homeless Emmaus ‘Companions’ move on with their lives. Not only does Emmaus provide housing for their Companions but all shops are entirely staffed by them, as they work to rebuild their lives.
Emmaus is a very worthy cause, which makes it a perfect partner for Barons. As part of our environmental policy, we aim wherever possible to ‘Reuse, Repair or Recycle’. The donations to Emmaus allow old furniture to be re-used, extending the product’s life and therefore lowering its overall impact on the environment. So, not only does the process help Emmaus raise much needed funds, but it gives older products a new lease of life.
Barons has initially delivered two loads of furniture which have been very well received and we hope to continue this process in the future; wherever possible having suitable old furniture re-used via Emmaus and their Companions.
