The Project

Lime Gardens extra care scheme in Dudley, West Midlands, is a newly built facility providing affordable, quality homes for over 55s. It comprises 120 homes, combined with extensive health and leisure facilities and 24-hour care for those who need it.

The scheme was developed by Midland Heart, in partnership with Dudley Council and the Homes and Communities Agency.

Barons furnished the extensive and varied communal areas of the scheme, including the library and IT suite, hairdressers, wellbeing centre, craft and hobbies room and the lounge and cafe bar, which included an events area and atrium.

We supplied more than 240 chairs, plus coffee tables, sideboards and specialist furniture.

Unique Challenges

This was a large project and we ensured we had the right team in place to deliver every aspect to the very highest standard throughout.

We met with the client’s interior designer at an early stage to establish their goals and vision for the project, ensuring that we understood their requirements from the outset.

The client required variations to standard specifications on several items of furniture, resulting in complex costings for numerous individual pieces. We also manufactured prototypes for approval.

We met with the client to assist with the selection of upholstery fabrics to co-ordinate with soft furnishings, presenting mood boards and swatch cards to tie the whole scheme together.

Measuring Success

We ensured that the project schedule included appropriate milestones which we were able to report against.

Our internal measures against standard KPIs meant that we could provide the client with whatever management information they requested.
