Barons is delighted to announce its official membership in The Furniture Makers’ Company, the official charity of the furnishing industry and a City of London livery company. The membership was formalised on 10th December during an admissions ceremony in London, attended by Barons’ Chair, Gary Lasham, who has been named as the company’s nominated member.

The event marked a proud moment for Barons as we joined a community dedicated to supporting the British furnishing industry, creating opportunities for growth, and providing essential assistance to those in need.

Supporting the Vision of the Furniture Makers’ Company

The Furniture Makers’ Company brings together businesses and individuals from across the furnishing sector to uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship, foster innovation, and offer vital support to those who make the industry thrive. By joining, Barons is reinforcing its commitment to working collaboratively to ensure a strong and sustainable future for British furniture manufacturing.

Here is what our Chair Gary Lasham had to say about joining The Furniture Makers’ Company “I could see that there was a huge opportunity to drive the business forward and as I had been involved with other business that had joined The Furniture Makers’ Company, I know that membership will really help our transformation.

“We share many of the same values - it is a livery company with a renowned history and we too our proud of our long-established business and the dynamic British furnishing industry. Although we are a relatively small business, we want to be connected to the heart of the sector and as a member of The Furniture Makers’ Company, we will be able to network widely, learning from other members’ experiences, as well as the benefit of being able to tap into the industry’s design talent. In addition, membership will strengthen our training and ESG initiatives.”

Brian Ahern, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “It’s great to see industry veterans like Gary Lasham continuing to see the value of being part of the livery company and keen to use membership to support business development. While we include some of the best-known names in the furnishings industry within our ranks, we are also pleased to be able to assist smaller businesses like Barons Furniture on their growth journey.”

Looking Forward

This membership marks the beginning of a promising chapter for Barons as we work alongside others in the industry to support the charity’s initiatives. We look forward to sharing updates on our involvement and the positive impacts this partnership will bring to the furnishing community.

Thank you to The Furniture Makers’ Company for welcoming us into this incredible network.
